HOLY COW, 6 Months!
Hey, there you are monkey, bud! It's been a while, give me 5!
AUGH, I want to eat your nose!
Wait, wait, have you guys met this monkey??? He's a trip!!
My birthday wasn't too hot. I had my dr. appt yesterday and got more shots. I was a trooper and really didn't scream that long. My face got red as a tomato though. I got all my newest measurements and here they are...those of you who know my mom and dad will not be terribly suprised that I dropped in all my percentages! My weight was 15 lbs 9oz, in the whopping 17%! My height was 26.5 inches, 45% and my head circumference dropped back down to 9%. So, what once was thought to be a scrapping young boy indeed does turn out to be a little peanut!
I am doing well on my food eating and getting ready to add to my rep blueberries. Dr.Bain said they would be good for me. SO mom is on the hunt for organic blueberries and a new baby food book called "Super Foods" or something like that. Paige's mom said it was really good. So far I am eating: pears, mangoes, bananas, peaches and apples on the fruit side and potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, squash and avocado (which is actually a fruit) on the veggie side. We are kinda stalled out because most of the other veggies I need to wait on til I am closer to 8 months, so we are going to try and do some mixing and stuff to see if I can get a bit of variety. Mom never knew how much time goes into "what is Luke eating today". AND...I am only at breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be another time eater!
We are off to the Hill Country in a couple days, so we won't be checking in for a while. I will try to have mom get some good pics of me in the country!
Merry Christmas!!!

Gymboree is over for the semester
Yesterday was my last Level I class for Gymboree. Here are all my friends and their mommies. Some of my buddies weren't there, but maybe I will get to see them Friday. If you will notice, I really really like Paige and her mommy Leslie. Paige is kinda my Gymboree girlfriend, so is Carolina who is right behind me. I am always watching Paige's mom instead of my own, she seems to be a LOT more fun to me. I just liked patting her on the shoulder yesterday. Paige's birthday is super close to mine and so it is good to see how both of us do the exact same stuff around the exact same time...gosh, it is almost like Someone designed us that way, huh?!!!
Anyway, thought you might want to see the gang. Most of them are going to be in my Level II class in January, so that will be fun!
Merry Christmas...mom will try to put up pics while we are out of town, if she can.

Family Fun times!
We had a really good time this weekend with Uncle Rick and Aunt Sandy. I think Cheddar was the one who had the most fun. Uncle Rick has decided that he is going to be Ched's Godfather (the loving kind, not the killing kind), but Opa may put up quite a fight for her! It was lots of fun getting to know them and I am really glad they came to town. Aunt Sandy and I became good friends by the time they left. This week Grandma has surgery and we are leaving to go to Comfort for our annual Christmas celebration with Aunt Diane!!! I don't remember last year's very well, but they tell me it is gonna be great!
Can't wait. Talk to you guys soon.

The Weather Outside is Frightful
I officially don't like this weather. Mainly because my mother bundles me up with too many clothes! So much so that my most recent trip to Costco had me in babylegs, jeans, onsie and a new sweater Oma bought me. Well YESTERDAY it was 36, TODAY it was 56. Someone forgot to let her in on that. I puked in Costco, it was too dang hot...oh, did I mention I had a hat on too??? Praise God she did NOT put me in a coat on top of it all! Anyway, Here I am with Santa.
Tomorrow Mom and Dad are going out so I get to chill with Oma and Opa! Should be fun times. As you can see, I am still VERY into checking EVERYTHING out. Those leaves don't taste half bad either, if you are wondering.

Full Weekend!
Well I am resting now. I had a BIG weekend. Maybe it wasn't such a BIG weekend as much as a weekend that took me off my schedule. I had lots of parties and lights and sounds to listen to this weekend. On Saturday, we decided NOT to do the Daddy Adventure to Northpark. I got to bed late Friday and was way stimulated, so mom and dad thought I could use a down afternoon before that evenings festivities roared up. So we raked leaves and GUESS WHAT!!! Our patio is DONE!!! That was thrilling to wake up to from my nap. Mom and Dad are sooooo done with the patio. We got it done just in time to look at it out the window from the warm house! However, daddy sealed it again and now the rain beads up nicely on it so we did luck out on that front!
At dad's party I got a picture with Santa. It was pretty uneventful. The party was fun, but it was REALLY loud and it was past my bedtime so I was pretty cranky again. However, much to mom's excitement I did like dancing with her to some Bob Marley that they played. She sure likes the Caribbean, so she thinks this means I might end up being a beach bum like her!! I did some nap catch up on Sunday. So much so that I missed my cousins' piano recital. My uncle Troy played guitar with Abigail and Abigail and Sarah each played a solo and a duet together. They were really good mom said and I am sad to have missed it. This weekend my Uncle Rick and Aunt Sandy are coming in town. I have never met them, so I am looking forward to it. Apparently this is Uncle Rick's first trip to TX and he doesn't like to fly at all...so we feel pretty lucky to have him coming. Let's see, mom is tutoring 3 days a week now, so she is busy after I go to bed. I am still going to Gymboree 2x a week for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully this week mom will remember what time my Friday class starts and not go too early again. That started off the weekend of long hours, because I never really got in a nap on Friday.
Have a good week and maybe mom can find the pictures of me and Santa to show you.

Beautiful days!
What a beautiful day. Can you believe it is December??? These are the days we are so happy to be in TX!!! We went for a 4 mile walk with Cheddar and played outside today! It is soooo nice. Daddy is working on the patio so we may be done by the weekend!!!
Keep your fingers crossed.
On another front, mom and dad finally broke down and got me some babylegs. Mom has been wanting them for a while because she wanted to prepare for the winter for layering my legs up under my jammies. Well, as you can see by the earlier picture that it is a bit too warm for that right now!! But we are surely prepared now. So, while most babies are learning "head, shoulders, knees and toes" I am now beyond that learning "Legs, femur, tibia and fibula!" Maybe if you don't teach science, it loses a little in the translation. We find it fun. It ain't calculus, but it is fun.

The Van Something Clan
I had a great weekend. I loved my new Gymboree class. Those bigger kids are sure a lot more active than the little ones! Class wore mom out! I was super ready for a nap when it was done, so we are thinking, "where do we sign up?". It was a lot more action packed and I loved it. I also liked the sweet potatoes mom made me and so far, no reaction (except I think all that new fiber is blocking me up!!). I did get them mixed with some pears and again with some bananas. So my little palette is getting a bit broader. I am looking forward to eating the apples mom made later in the week.
Saturday the Van Something families got together to eat lunch. Grant's daddy was in town (he travels during the week) so that was a lot of fun. We are thinking about doing a mommy super supper deal with them where me and Grant can play and our moms can tag team cook and play. Mrs. Van Boven really cooks Grant some good stuff, so I hope mom does it.
Sunday was a day full of projects, Lowe's and Sherwin Williams. We are still in process on the patio...some day it will be done, but just not now.
This week I am going to go to both of my Gymboree classes, Dad has his Christmas party, mom works a couple nights, and we may hit another Christmas party...Jack's parents are having one, but it is the same day as Dad's..so we'll see. Also, I am supposed to have my adventure day with Dad Saturday to see the trains at Northpark, we might invite mom too.
Here is a picture of me and Grant. He's my good buddy...we like each other you can tell!!!

Day for New Stuff!
Well, yesterday I FINALLY got to meet some of mommy's old friends that she used to teach with. Well, actually I knew most of them already, but I did get to check out her old stomping grounds and meet some pretty cool big (and I mean BIG) kids that she really liked. Today, mom tried making my first round of baby food beyond just mashing up bananas, pears and avacados. She made me some baked apples and some sweet potatoes. I am looking forward to those, I hear I will like them. I like everything so far, so I am sure this will just be added to the list! Oma is going to be the first to try it out tonight. Mom and Dad are going on a "date"; whatever that is.
Along with the new food, I am going to try a new Gymboree class today. I am going to check out the level 2 class that comes up in January to see if I like it or not. I think I might, so that might be my Christmas present this year...the gift that I get to enjoy every week.
Here is yesterday's final wardrobe decision, for those who were dying to know how it all shook out. BUT, what you can't see is my BLUE onsie (closest to my heart) underneath my Packer onsie. For all those curious still, the showdown wasn't really "official" because our boy Brett didn't get to finish the game...so, much like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop, the world may NEVER know!
Have a great weekend!

Message From Dad
Listen - this kid is a Packer fan through and through. He has it in his blood and he can't escape it, nor does he want to, nor would he want to (much like his love for wooden shoes). There is no other professional sports team that is owned by the fans. This is a feeling that cannot be explained nor expressed properly. He will learn to embrace that feeling shortly. Through thick and thin the people of Wisconsin, and Packers fans everywhere, will always have their Pack. And so will my boy.
OH, the DILEMMA has begun!!
I don't know what to wear today!!! Perhaps my best bet is to just go like i go in the bath!!!??? Should I wear my Star onesie to support America's team or go with Green and Gold for the Pac??? A little boy should not have this much pressure on him this early! I can only say that I am glad my Packer onesie is too big for me now.
HOWEVER...I think what may be the key is wearing that silly Packer outfit and root for the Cowboys!!! I don't know how those heathens in Wisconsin can turn on their own kid made good. Just doesn't seem AMERICAN!!!! :0)
Should be a game to remember--I am sure our house will be divided for a good week, we have chosen not to discuss it up to this point. Now it is GAMEDAY and it is ON!!!
I feel like that guy with an Angel in blue and a Devil in green on each shoulder, or is it an Angel in Green and a Devil in Blue??? Can't even figure that out. What is a little boy to do???
Hoping to have some answers by tomorrow morning!
See you after the showdown!
Go PAC!
Go BOYS!
Go GREEN
Go BLUE
ugh, just somebody go somewhere and leave me out of it!!!

To make my Opa and Uncle Bill Proud!
Today was a day of getting back to schedules! Gave mom a bit of sanity. Since I have been eating more real food, I have been sleeping better at night and I guess my teeth-to-be are taking a bit of a rest. I slept 10 hrs straight the past 2 nights in a row! It has made for a much happier household...maybe I will stick with it. Here I am trying out my new stick handling moves with my noise maker stick from the hockey game the other day. Opa, maybe I can learn to use this thing lefty! That is all I really have today. Tomorrow we are back to Gymboree after a week off of sickness and a week of Thanksgiving. I am ready to learn some new stuff. It seems that 9385 Sean Drive is getting a little boring.

Long Weekend Full of Nothing!
We have really enjoyed relaxing this weekend. Daddy and I read some books, then me and mom watched daddy work. Of course Ched has to be in on everything. We had a rough scare the other day...my puppy almost blinded me. Mom didn't see it, she was in the other room doing some recommendations for some students...but she heard it! Daddy went off on Cheddar!!! The dog was banished from the house for a bit in the rain. Needless to say, Cheddar is glad we have a new patio cover. Too bad daddy didn't put on the heater for her. She is a good dog and didn't really mean it. 5 months; not too bad for our first war wound. I am sure there will be many more to follow. I am so interested in everything. I reach for everything and almost got me some ribs for dinner the other night!!!
We have started using my booster seat from my 2nd cousins instead of my high chair...it is easier for me to see over cause I am still a shrimp! I love it a lot and am much happier to be able to see more stuff at dinner. My high chair is fantastic, but it just is maybe a bit too soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!
We just got home from Oma and Opa's house...good times with lots of food and family. I am teething like a mad man. I was up every 2 hours last night, dad's hockey game ran way late (but he got 2 goals; game tying and game winner...yea daddy!), it was super cold this morning and mom was tired so we did NOT do the Turkey Trot. We are all kinda a little sad that we didn't get out to do it, but we did enjoy staying toasty warm in our jammies a little late in the morning. I didn't want to take a nap today...shocker to those who know me! So, I crashed out pretty easy tonight. Here are some of my 5 month old pictures! Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving. We are all very Thankful for family and friends and for all the Lord has blessed us with...especially the country we live in and the people fighting and dying to secure our freedoms! We are the most blessed people and our prayer is that we as a family remember that more often than we do!
PS: Greer, Casey and Hanna came to see me on Friday...I am thankful for them too!
Don't I look like the mac daddy of them all?? chicks dig me.

5 Months YESTERDAY!
Hi guys! I still haven't taken my 5month picture with my monkey from Aunt Marcy yet...but will this week. I also forgot to mention to you guys some stuff going on...so I will do that now and update pictures later this week.
Well, here is what I have going on in my life lately:
1) I am starting to find Cheddar VERY interesting. I grab her by the neck and smack her nose...she licks me ALL the time. I have started giggling at her when she comes near and turn my head anticipating the slobbery kisses. She is really fun and I can see why mom and dad keep telling me she is going to be my best friend. Whenever I topple over or get upset it is Ched to the rescue. After she licks me a bit she goes off to get mom to help me out. She's pretty cool. (Cheddar, not mom)
2) I have started sampling what you guys call real food. I am so very interested in it all the time. Daddy feels really guilty eating in front of me...I am sure I can parlay that to my benefit in the future; but for now, mom is quite the buzz kill on that. BUT...I am now allowed to sit in my high chair at the table during meals and I get to sample some stuff. I do not have any sort of tongue thrust so I am sure that it is time for me to start gettin busy on that food stuff. Some of the stuff I have tried and really like are: peaches, bananas, potatoes, and avocados. Mom gave me some pears this am and it was really too tart for my liking, I gagged a couple times. I am sure there are more of those on the horizon so I better suck it up. I did eat from a spoon this morning and it went okay...it still is more effective for mom and dad to shove it in my mouth on their fingers since my bites are so tiny still.
3) teething saga continues...I look like a duck 8 of my 10 waking hours and even in my sleep they say.
4) I laugh all the time now...I think mom and dad are hilarious. I particularly like hearing long u sounds like : LUKE of course, and MOOO, and Moose, and I am also a fan of most any animal noise mom can make. They think they are rock stars right now because of how entertained I am...little do they know how short lived that will be!
5) I sit up all the time now. I occasionally have tummy time, but mom is not too worried about it. Folks think I should start practicing crawling, but my mom is crafty. She doesn't really want to rush in the days of chasing me around, she is content to put me down and know where I am at all times right now. I am really strong and doing exactly what I should be, so I am not too worried either.
Alright, I must go nap so I look good for my pictures...I will try to find a funny one to tide ya over til I can get my 5 month one done!
Happy day and happy thanksgiving.

Hanging with all my peeps
Here I am with my buddy Jack...he's on my Walk Across Texas Team...we got together today with our moms and we had a great time. Yesterday we went to Uncle Troy's for John's birthday celebration...I got to hang out with all of my cousins. I had a good time. Later that night Daddy did NOT have a hockey game and Aunt Mandy came over for a bit. Saturday was busy, I got to hang out at my buddy Grant Rogers all day. It was fun.
Friday night i got to stay with Oma and Opa while mom and dad went to the Stars game. They were on the glass, so I looked for them on TV, but was not able to see them! Bummer.
I am running in the Turkey Trot on Thursday. SO you guys have a happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my wonderful life.

Sick and sitting up!
I went to the doctor yesterday and just have some little bug. Mom thought the 10.00 co-pay was worth peace of mind! I weigh 15.1 lbs and for those of you who don't know, that makes a heck of a Thanksgiving Turkey! I am sitting up really well now, even when I am sick. I sat and played for about 35 minutes without even toppling over. I am very good at correcting my balance. I am still not to terribly convinced I NEED to roll over..I have quite a reach and can grab stuff easily. Mom thinks I am just lazy like her. I digress. I do love to hold my feet too. Today is my cousin John's birthday so we need to take his present to him. Mom works tonight...she also went out last night for one session after I went to bed. I didn't miss her at all. I am getting into the whole "watch mom and dad come running" after they put me down. For 3 nights in a row, I have cried and gotten my way. They are telling me the hammer comes down tonight. Mom is skeptical because tonight is Grandma's night with me and then Oma and Opa are staying with me while mom and dad go to the Stars game Friday....so I figure I got a whole week of getting my way!!!
We'll see how it goes tonight...Dad is still in the house...so MAYBE not, but he is a softie too.
Tomorrow is library day and walking with our team and then most likely Gymboree too. Big day. Maybe we'll save Gymboree for Saturday...that way daddy can go too!
Have a good Hump Day!!!

Long time gone by
Wow, it has been a long time since I checked in with everyone! Sorry for all of that. We have been super busy, but not really anything to speak of, sadly. I did have an Adventure day with my Daddy yesterday. We went on a Nature Walk and it was a LOT of fun. In true fashion, I did not take much of a nap and did not really sleep that well last night. I am not feeling very well at all today. Mom and Dad are so sad that I might be sick again. We are thinking that it is hopefully just an allergies and teething combination that has got me spinning. I just cry and cry, and then I laugh and smile and then cry and wail some more. Daddy is kinda beside himself being sad for me. He is my new best friend. I love to just look at him and talk to him...he does funny stuff for me and makes me laugh really hard.
I went to the library with my friend Gavin and that was fun. It was free, so we like that. It was very similar to Gymboree, but more kids, more chaos and not quite as "educational"...but we sang a lot of the same songs...Mom feels sorta stupid that she spent that money on Gymboree when all she had to do was go to the library for free!!! Needless to say, we are looking into more library activities.
Some of my friends from that hospital class are on my "walk across Texas" Team...we are logging our miles to jointly walk across the state. It is kinda fun...we have slacked off lately because of the colder weather...now with me not feeling good, not sure we will do much this week either. But Grant, Jack, and Gavin are doing it and a new friend Natalie.
Let's see what else....I went to Dad's hockey game last Sunday...it was fun, but it was late for me. It will probably be the last one I go to until much later next spring...they are really LATE this season.
Other than that, not too much going on. Hoping to get better at keeping in touch. So here are a couple pictures of the latest happenings. One is me playing with mom, then one is me on my Adventure with Dad, and the last one is me with my shorts on my head and dad talking to me like I am a chef...he's pretty funny!
OH, I did roll over from my back to my belly today, but no one really saw me do it...typical.

Me and 2 Old Crows!
Someone said there are not any pictures of mom...so here ya go...this was at the pumpkin patch in Comfort. I have been grumpy lately, we think I am teething...not fun for any of us. Mom thinks I have little boy PMS...whatever that is. One minute I am wailing, the next minute I am laughing. Somewhat Sybil-esk. I am hoping this stuff passes quickly...I am not my normal super-happy self.

Quick Recap!
These pictures are small...you can click on them and they will go full screen!!!
So the week with my Grandpa was great. I got to see him every night from Saturday to Wednesday. When mom went to tutor I got to spend the whole evening with Grandma,
Grandpa and daddy. Grandma always comes to play with me on Wednesdays while mommy works...so this week was even a little extra special to have Grandpa too. He was such a fun little guy to be around. He sure does love me a lot, and I love him a LOT too!!! Tuesday I went to Gymboree and Oma came to get some pictures of me in my elephant costume. Here we are playing with the whiffle balls, I sure like those...I might get some for Christmas.
We left on Thursday to go to see Aunt Diane. She is sooooo much fun. We went all around town and she took me to Bass Pro Shops!!! I got to touch some scary animals. My favorite were the lions and the fish...they had some freaky monkeys that I DID NOT LIKE. We also went to a pumpkin patch and Opa and Daddy carved pumpkins for us...we got to roast pumpkin seeds. Here is a picture of Dad doing his Mr. Potato Head pumpkin...it was good...My Opa is a great carver of old...he made one of a running horse. It was cool. Daddy went bow hunting. We saw lots of deer, but did not kill any...which we were all sorta glad about since no one knew really how to dress it out. I was a good boy on the drive, I didn't like the ride home...I yelled a lot, but the way down was super easy because I slept most of the way. I ate at 5:00 am and then we left...the way home, was a different story all together. Well, that is the short version of the past week. To summarize, I had a GREAT time, I am a blessed blessed boy and life and God are so good to me!
Hope everyone has a great day....I am off to gymboree tomorrow...next week mom and I are going to start going to the library with some friends (Gavin, Jack, and maybe Grant and their mommies) and then we will walk around the bike trail. We are all on the same "Walk Across Texas" Team. Moms are trying to get back in shape for us little dudes!!! It is fun to have so many friends my age to play with.
okay, i will post more pics tomorrow...some of them are too big to do all at once...sorry
Home from Comfort!
Wow, what a busy couple of weeks. We have lots of pics of Grandpa and Aunt Diane on the camera that we will upload soon! Just wanted to let everyone know we were home safe and LOVED seeing our loved ones. We have done so much, that it would be hard to put into words, but mom will update pics and details soon after she gets us all unpacked and laundered and I get back on my schedule.
Love you all!
Love you all!

4 Months Old!
I am growing so much every day. I can do some new tricks, but I am still not caring too much about rolling over. I now like to try and blow bubbles and make "raspberry" noises. It is so hard to believe how much my life has changed in 4 months! It sure has been a fun ride. Today Grandpa comes in from Wisconsin and I am so excited to meet him. Tomorrow will be a HUGE day for me.
My whole family will get to love on me...Oma, Opa, Grandma and Grandpa!!! Lucky me!

Lunch with Daddy!!!
I got to go have lunch with my daddy today! It is so much fun to get to see him during the day time. I sat and smiled at him a LOT. I am also getting better with my sippy cup. When I finish with it, I am a soaking mess, but mom thinks it occupies me while we are out and she figures I am bound to swallow some milk that way! My life has been pretty good lately...I am a very happy boy and I love to laugh a lot now. Pretty soon my Grandpa is gonna be here and I will get to play with him. THEN after that, I get to go see my Aunt Diane in Comfort! Daddy is really really excited to show me around Mr. Michaels' wood shop. Other than that, my cousin Abigail's birthday was yesterday and hopefully I will get to see her tonight. She was going to come spend the night with us, but those plans have changed. I will have to settle for a dinner. She is a lot of fun to be around, she sings me fun songs. Hope everyone is doing great and we will be in touch soon!

chillin out on Sunday
Today is a BEAUTIFUL day. While dad finished up some trim work on the patio (he had a tricky one in this picture), me, mom, and Cheddo hung out outside with him. We had fun. Later today my Aunt Mandy is coming over and we are all going to watch the PACKERS on TV. It is a network game for us because they are playing someone in our conference! After the Packers play, we will most likely watch the Cowboys lose. We are going to cook and chill.

What a Week!
Holy Cow! What a week I had! It was sooo much fun. My cousin Karyn came in to see me all the way from Colorado. What an awesome lady she is and she is so fun to be around. She taught me lots of things and gave mom and dad some very good tips on how to help me out!! So we picked her up on Monday and went right to lunch with Oma and Aunt Sue. Tuesday we were out and about a bit and hung out. Wednesday we were on the run ALL day long. I did not nap one single bit that day. All in all I was a champ for no naps, but I was TIRED all night long. Karyn and mom ate dinner at Oma and Opa's and Karyn got to visit with Uncle Troy for a while. I didn't get to go. Mom had to tutor, dad was finishing the trim on the patio with Carlos and so my wonderful Grandma came over and played with me. She took me for a walk and then gave me my bath and then I ate a little bit from a bottle and went to bed! For the past few nights I have gone about 9.5 hours at a stretch!!! It sure feels good to wake up refreshed. Thursday we went to lunch with daddy and then stopped off to buy my cousins some Texas paraphernalia and then off to the Airport. One of our most exciting purchases was a new 2 oz bottle and a new 4 oz sippy cup for me! I love that sippy cup. I can hold it in both my hands and pull it to my mouth. It is super easy to eat from, but I get a LOT. Most of my milk ends up going on my shirt, but it seems like it is great practice for me. PLUS, it allows me to get some milk in when mom is not available!
Then, after Karyn left I played with Oma for a bit on Friday. And today....today was pumpkin patch day!! Me and dad went with Mr. Shubert and Blake, who is 5. He is dad's friend from work and they are really cool dudes. So I will try to post some pictures for you.
Hope you all are well.
Miss you lots.

Gettting there!
Here is a quick update on the patio cover...we are slowly getting there...today we are getting the plywood down and hopefully will roof it tomorrow. Still a long way out from COMPLETELY done, but it will start to be functional. Still waiting on a quote to stain and seal it. Then we will most likely still need to put rock around the base up a couple feet to finish it off, and decorative trim, perhaps a star....oh, yeah...still have to run electricity and get the fans...so, every spare dime we have will be put into it...not terrible, but with only one income, we are starting to wonder if we are crazy. On another note, all of our allergies have kicked into high gear...wouldn't that be a kicker??? Hopefully after the cedar gets sealed with the stain, we won't all have headaches and sneeze all day!!
The best part of it is looking up from the underside, but don't have a pic of that. We will be enjoying having folks over for a long time to come!
